Apache Stronghold
Apache Stronghold Golf Club is an 18-hole par-72 designed by Tom Doak, and it is routinely ranked among the top five championship courses in Arizona — a state with no shortage of golf. Doak is one of the most respected architects working in the modern game, and finding one of his courses attached to a regional tribal casino is genuinely unusual.
The routing wraps around fourteen archaeological sites and is framed by mountains on every side. Whatever you make of the casino, the course is a serious piece of golf architecture and the main reason people travel here.
What's on the floor
A 60,000-square-foot casino with more than 400 slot machines, a 200-seat bingo hall, and a small live table offering covering blackjack and Three Card Poker.
