That review count is low for a property this size, and the reason is simply that it has only been open twenty months. The floor is searched for far more than the ratings sample would suggest — demand arrived faster than reviews.
It is the Tohono O'odham Nation's fifth gaming facility, and it created more than a thousand permanent jobs.
What's on the floor
The property covers roughly 184,000 square feet and carries 900 slot machines, a poker room, a retail sportsbook and live table games — blackjack, roulette and baccarat among them.
A poker room at a brand-new regional floor is not a given, and it is one of the more useful things about this property for West Valley players, who otherwise face a drive across the metro for a seat.
Check the venue's site for the current table and poker schedules. A young floor adjusts its hours and game spread as it learns its traffic, and the schedule you find in a directory may already be out of date.
What is not there yet
Be clear about this before you book anything: there is no hotel.
The Nation has said the property will eventually expand to include a hotel, a conference centre, a pool and an amphitheatre with event lawn space. None of that is open. If you want a Desert Diamond property with rooms, you need a different one — and if a listing tells you otherwise, it is describing the plan rather than the building.
